Let the down slope
begin . . .
Officially I have
completed one year in the mission and I am now starting the down slope. It's
insane! But, also, on that one year mark day, I spent the whole day on the toilet,
so it wasn't too great...
But all in all, it was a pretty solid week, super
crazy, super hot, and super worth it! We had a baptism this past week, Hazzel. It was awesome! She's super cool and now her brother and mom are progressing
really well and love the church. This past week, we spent a lot of time doing
baptism interviews and visiting the other companionships' investigators trying to
help them out.
So Frederick's mom and
sister got baptized on Saturday, so awesome! i got to talk to them today. They
are so awesome! Frederick is just getting ready to start his mission papers and
is teaching the Melchizedec Priesthood Class. He's a super smart kid. So happy
for them and to have been able to be a part of their conversion process.
This past week, I read
a conference talk called, "Dare to Stand Alone," by Pres. Monson. It was awesome.
Some parts that I like that I hope you do, too. It talks a lot about the
priesthood. We may at times find ourselves surrounded by others and yet
standing in the minority or even standing alone concerning what is acceptable
and what is not. Do we have the moral courage to stand firm for our beliefs,
even if by so we must stand alone? As holders of the priesthood of God, it is
essential that we are able to face with courage whatever challenge comes our
way.

I have noticed here on my mission with some converts and members that they
are all good until a challenge comes and then they just collapse and never come
back to church again. We can't do that! "In all ages, prophets have looked
down through the corridors of time to our day. Billions of the deceased and
those yet to be born have their eyes on US. Make no mistake about it. You are a
marked generation... For nearly six thousand years, God has held you in reserve
to make your appearance in the final days before the second coming of the Lord.
Some individuals will fall away, but the kingdom of God will remain intact to
welcome the return of its Head even Jesus Christ. While this generation will be
comparable in the wickedness to the days of Noah, when the Lord cleansed the
earth by flood, there is a major difference this time; it is that God has saved
for the final inning some of His strongest children, who will help bear off the
kingdom triumphantly. -Ezra Taft Benson
Our responsibility is
to be worthy of all the glorious blessings our Father in Heaven has in store
for us.
Dare to be a
Mormon,
Dare to stand alone.
Dare to have a
purpose firm,
Dare to make it
known.
But in reality we are
never alone when we stand with our Father in Heaven. Romanos 8:31
Love you all,
Elder Copeland
